Ingredients
Brownies
  • 1 box of brownies + ingredients on the back of the box or homemade brownies (my favorite recipe linked below)
Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-4 Tbsp heavy cream
  • food coloring, if desired
Toppings
  • Sprinkles
  • Candies
Instructions
  1. Bake your brownies according to the directions on the back of the box (or make your favorite homemade version), and allow the brownies to cool completely (you can put them in the fridge to speed up the cooling down process).
  2. Beat butter until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add in powdered sugar, about 1/2 cup at a time, beginning with 3 cups. Add in vanilla extract and 2 Tbsp heavy cream, beating until combined. If the frosting seems too thin, add in the remaining 1 cup of powdered sugar. If it seems too thick, add in the remaining 1-2 Tbsp of heavy cream.
  3. Add food coloring to the frosting, if desired.
  4. Once the brownies have cooled, cut brownies into shapes using your favorite cutouts. If needed, chill the brownies first (I found that they were a little easier to remove from the cutout shapes when they were cold, but it also worked fine without chilling them).

  5. Spread or pipe frosting onto the brownies, and add sprinkles or candies, if desired.
  6. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes

*You can use any cutout shapes you want, but I used a star shape, a tree shape, a wreath shape and a christmas light shape.
