Spiced Apples
  • 7 large apples, sliced (you can peel if you want; I left the peels on)
  • 1 Tbsp orange zest, about the zest of 1 large orange
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup*
  • 1 tsp apple pie spice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup apple cider or apple juice
  • 2 Tbsp butter, cubed
  • 1 1/2 Tbsps cornstarch
  • whipped cream
  • ice cream
  • caramel sauce
  1. In a large crockpot, mix apples, orange zest maple syrup, apple pie spice, cinnamon, apple cider (or apple juice), butter and cornstarch.
  2. Stir the mixture until combined.
  3. Cook on low for 3 - 3 1/2 hours, stirring once or twice.
  4. Serve immediately, or turn the slow cooker to the 'warm' setting until ready to eat.
  5. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes

*If you'd prefer to use sugar or honey, you can most definitely substitute that for maple syrup (using the same 1/4 cup amount.) :-)
