Meet Me

About the Blog:

Hi! Welcome! I’m Michelle, and A Latte Food is my little space to share with you all of my favorite recipes, most of which can be classified as dessert! I love dessert.

 I’m a total dessert-a-holic.

And coffee-a-holic.

Basically, food is my life.

But, even though I bleed coffee and breathe sugar, you will find a variety of recipes on the blog, because I love being able to share my favorite recipes with all of you! While dessert recipes might be the predominate theme on my blog, there is (and will continue to be!) an assortment of recipes.

If I love it, I’ll share it. 🙂

So, please grab a cup of coffee and eat your heart with me!

About Me:

Here are a few facts about me that I’m sure you’ve been dying to know:

I was born and raised in Southern California. I love, love the beach, but absolutely hate swimming in the ocean. It’s vast and powerful, and absolutely breathtaking.

I’m an avid reader with eclectic tastes. It all started with Nancy Drew, The Baby Sitters Club, and the Boxcar Children books. It soon morphed into the Clearwater Crossing series, which then led to books like To Kill a Mockingbird (still a favorite of mine) and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. My list of favorite “must-read” books (I’m the queen of “I loved that book! You have got to read it!”) is a mile long, but a few I could read again and again are:

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

All Quiet on the Western Front

The Things They Carried

Into the Wild

The Glass Castle

Half-Broke Horses

The Road

Into Thin Air

Garlic and Sapphires

Through Painted Deserts

Blue Like Jazz

Water for Elephants

I have a B.A. in English lit (shocking, right? 🙂 ), and a double minor in both History and Biblical Studies.

My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4: 4-8, and my favorite book of the bible is Romans.

I love photography!

I love art, specifically contemporary art, and almost minored in art history.

Gilmore Girls rules all. Seriously.

I also have an obsession with crime dramas, like NCIS, Blue Bloods, Law and Order SVU, Cold Case, and Bones. (I can’t stand the sight of blood, though, so often times I’m watching the shows with one eye closed).

I’m a huge Angels fan, even though I physically dislike playing baseball–go figure (probably because I’m competitive and was never very good at it–soccer was my sport!).

When I was 4 or 5, I desperately wanted to be a gymnast or ice skater, but considering I grew up to be 5’8,” that was definitely not in my future.

I’m a cooking magazine junkie and a huge fan of film. Like books, my tastes are eclectic and range from chick-flicks like You’ve Got Mail, Dirty Dancing, and  Crazy, Stupid Love–Ryan Gosling = swooning alert–to classics like Back to the Future and The Breakfast Club to films like Memento and Heat.

The best concerts I’ve been to: U2, the Goo Goo Dolls, The Lumineers, Mumford, Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World, Grouplove, and Matt & Kim.

New York City has my heart.

NYC 223

Turquoise is my favorite color.

I’m a pinterest-a-holic and adore Instagram. (Follow me! Pinterest and Instagram: @michelle_alattefood)

My all-time favorite dessert is cheesecake, but I’ve never turned down a cookie or slice of cake either.

Some of my favorite recipes from this blog are:

Classic Coconut Cake

Peach Pie Scones

Peach Cinnamon Rolls

Maple Glazed Banana Bread

Double Chocolate Chip Mint Cookies

Nutella Kit Kat Puppy Chow

Thank you so much for stopping! I love hearing from both readers and brands, so feel free to contact me via my contact page or by email at alattefood [at] gmail [dot] com. In the meantime, enjoy a cup of coffee while browsing through my recipes and slices of life!

Happy to have found your site Michelle . I was drawn to it by your maple scones. I love scones and they are heavenly with a good cup of coffee. Your description of yourself was very amusing and I can relate to your coffee and sugar identity. I too grew up in Southern CA but moved away after I married… lived different places but calling NE TN home right now… so beautiful here! Blessings as you enrich others lives through your food interests!

  2. Lauren says:

I feel like you and I would make the best of friends. I also think Gilmore Girls is life, NYC has stolen my heart numerous times, cheesecake is my favourite dessert, I love all the bands you’ve seen (except I’ve never heard of Grouplove or Matt & Kim, so I’ll have to check them out!), my obsession with crime dramas doesn’t mean I don’t watch them from behind my fingers because I scare easily, and reading is a drug (I also started out with those three series – LOVED Boxcar Children). Oh and I also love to bake and eat and drink coffee/tea, haha. So yes, hello!

  3. Gaby says:

So excited to thumb through all of your recipes! I love what I see already 🙂 And I feel like we’d get along so well! Killer sweet tooth, coffee-aholic, crime drama shows, reading (The Glass Castle & Blue Like Jazz – YES!), mega baseball fan (but Red Sox are my team!) and, Romans is also my favorite book of the Bible 🙂

Anyway, Happy Easter weekend & I’m glad to have found your blog! xo

Hi Michelle, I’m inspired by your recipes and loved reading your profile. Grew up with many of the same books as my favorites and read “To Kill a Mockingbird” in 5th or 6th grade… such an important book. I love that you list your fav books and I want to read them–I’ll probably love them too. We have lots of common loves–art, etc. In the meantime-Strawberry Scones will be my first recipe. I’m also looking for how to make the same recipes gluten free–for family member with allergies – if you have ever tried to do that with your recipes… Thank you. I have so many “favorite” bible verses, like Joshua 24:15 and love the book of Jobs. I’ll bet you do too. 🙂
